In Hamilton we are told by many that our city is dirty and has the image of being tough, dirty ,and mob run,but I was born in this city and I kind of like it.I truly believe Hamilton, my birth place is thinking small.
I have so many times smelt fumes and waste from the steel companies that for sure are toxic, and I felt sick,I know I am not the only one,and because I am not the only one! I say that we "sell the steel companies to the Chinese"I was told today by the Chinese community that Fred had basically brushed them off today {Aug 30th 2010} at a meeting with China representatives.I believe that the future of our city is not going to be based solely on Foot ball, but in the elimination and the sale of all the steel plants to the Chinese.Big deals are when you make massive invest to a whole city. and Canadian society.I am under the impression that the Chinese would like a mayor that supports the sale in principal of the steel plants to the Chinese. The shareholders of the stock can decide whether or not, they would like to tender there shares to the Chinese, but as mayor I would be more than happy to help them achieve their goal, of developing not only one small patch, but the whole North end of the water front. Today I had conversations with the representatives from China:s Government, and given that I am being told that the meeting came across has a brush off by the mayor,I question the current mayors thinking.I support the billions of dollars that will be spent in infrastructure,I support the multi millions that will be made by our city in taxes, and I support the environment.
I support "real change"not just cosmetic and most of all I support massive employment in Hamilton, and will achieve this by supporting the sale of our steel plants to the Chinese.
I would rather we turn the North end into a mega project ,then toxic producing, money losing eye sore

Having fun while working
I started building this blog to learn how to; not because I think that there is any one thing that I want to promote ;other then things that I enjoy doing I mean is that not what a blog is for.My father has been a private investor for many years and many of my friends run public firms traded on both the T.S.X and the new york stock exchange and after 30 years of listening to the pros that I know ;I have not really become to enjoy it rather I like what and who I know in the industry.I have had many friends over the years that have asked me to look after there portfolios and only by the grace of god;did I manage to make them money. I was very lucky not to lose there money;and even more so to make a little for myself . I did this for a few years and then retired from this field as it became a little to risky. I can only now gather as much information from the contacts in the industry that I know and post what I and those close to me are doing.
I will say that as far as money goes; I have not made a great deal; but over the years I have been Lucky enough to meet some of Canada:s richest people. My greatest sales job was when I was in New Brunswick and I lost my wallet and I needed gas money to get back to Ontario . The local Irving stations would not cash a out of town check without I.D. so given that I was always a salesman I went to the home of Irving oil ; to speak to Arthur Irving SR. I was told that I would need a appointment even if I where the head of state; I told the front reception to ask if he would see a costumer ; I got in to see him and spent at least a hour in his office trying to convince him to cash a out of town; and province check. I enjoyed my talk with him and I went down in History with my banks and friends; after I told them my story . There is a great deal more to this story but I am giving a short and to the point version. I still have the check that went though his bank account that sits in my office as a reminder trophy.
When I was younger my father would tell me how he really liked the way Gerry Schwartz from Onex did business. He would comment on how the papers revered to him as the Rodney Dangerfield of bay street. My father believed this to harsh. one day I told my father; I would go in and try to arrange for them to talk; I was always very good at that. I did what I do best and made it happen. I know that my father and sister at the meeting of the shareholders presented a carving that still sits in there board room.Onex made my family a great deal of money; and again I learned how to make certain things happen . I never have meet him only in passing in there lobby. Money for me has never been the motivator as much as the challenge of just getting though to them. I know longer but myself out there the way I did in the past; as I find I do not have as much to sell .
When I was 15 years old ;I would sell product to the Eaton's department stores I learned a great deal then and was responsible for the opening of the Shoppers Drug mart chain;Zellers united cigar; and many more then I was "Fired" for over selling . I was also a printing salesman that was not to bad ;I was paid really very well from my opening of the Tim Horton doughnut franchise that I serviced for maybe four years. There was a chain of pizza stores called Gino's; that I serviced and opened that made things a little easier during my younger years. I have since lost my urge to sell as I find it a little boring; but have retained my natural ability that I was born with.

Oil moves fast
Josh !
The date is on the email.. I was buying really quite heavy and although I have a average price of 5.75$ I am going to start to reduce my margine.I do not want to take a sudden hit.I am getting out.It was a nice run ,but greed is a killer.

I am very surprised by the current Oil prices, and I am shocked that we are not at least over $100 per barrel. The fact that the prices of Oil are dropping during the Gulf coast spill to me is even more of a disappointment and should reflect the cost to the environment {should being my opinion} I am one who hopes for higher prices on the grounds that I am in Oil {HOU.UN} more than that higher prices are a benefit to change. I try to do my best to not drive and believe that maybe only the rich should drive. The price of Oil in my mind is going to fly in the next few months due to a political move somewhere in the world; but this is only hopeful thinking. My mind was changed forever after spending four months in China, the Chinese are nuts about the car to the point of ignoring self preservation .I love Shanghai, but find that if the Chinese do not reduce their dependence on driving ,is it not a form of self induced suicide? Or is it negligence of the government? No matter what people say about Oil now as an investment, I cannot resist as it was $145 not that long ago and time moves quickly and when it does decide to move up again it is really going to move. I am not coin: in it at the moment on Oil. But I see money at a later date, when I might need the money for another issue,"for now I do not, and think it is going to rise just as fast as it has fallen back”. I am better of two months early then one day late getting in.
My question to you
Do you believe that Iran and the Middle East can affect the price in a sudden way!
The fact that the consumer is more aware of the industry issues, if the price where to climb to $145 would they be more accepting of the price and would this be a blessing to the industry to raise the price. Would there be more acceptances from the consumer.
Am I nuts! to believe that what I see in China can not possible carry on without having long term problems for all countries and people on this planet.
Have you been to China and have you seen, firsthand the problems facing that country?
Thank you

The Pan Am stadium at the Harbour front .
This site is usually reserved for banking issues , but I am posting my opinion here because it is financial in theme. If the current mayor and councilors decide to move forward with this plans ,it will destroy this city. The problem is that by building a mega stadium their it brings the traffic count and development idea closer and closer to the Durand neighbour hood and Aberdeen and bay area were people are enjoying the peace and quite. In time you will have a hard time to stop the progress, and that area as time goes on will become a parking lot for games.I can not believe that people want to reverse the progress, that was in place to make downtown more pedestrian friendly ,I mean does that not go against the idea of renewal ,I believe it is political suicide and will be the complete down fall of this city if it is approved.I also can not believe that given that the tiger cats do not want to be there, that it is still being considered. I believe that if this development goes through it will destroy our city..I am opposed to this project 100% and believe that there are far better alternatives for the site .
If the current politicians can not listen to Bob Young ,do you think they will listen to you?and even if it is approved it is bad for the Durand,if I can walk from Aberdeen and Bay to the market to spend $30 0n vegatables ,I believe that people will park in the Durand area ,and walk down to the stadium to save a $25

China China China and Obama
The people of China are slaves to the American consumer; and the side effects of 8% growth will only lead to environmental disaster in China{given that it is not already here} The governments in my view are on a very wrong track; and I believe Obama is being short sighted. This will be his first trip to China;and he can not ignore what he will be exposed to on his trip;if he travels around the country; "with his eyes open". If he chooses to be blind; to the issues that stare him in the face; there will be trouble. The led in the air; is a real problem in parts of China; as is air quality in all parts. The water issues are huge; and the issue will not be resolved until growth is reduced; as far as exports to North America. "It is very much the idea of not in my back yard"; poison them not me. I believe Obama;should implement laws that limit consumers to a preset spending allowance;as in the long run there really is no other way; as the by-product of money;{or materialism} is environmental waste. "All they need to do is clean up there act".

Stanley Ho Shows He Makes Macau Money Vegas Men Can’t Replicate - Bloomberg.com
Stanley Ho Shows He Makes Macau Money Vegas Men Can’t Replicate - Bloomberg.com.
Doing business with Stanley is the only way to go; China is the place to do business; how long it will last thou; this is what should be questioned. I rather have done it; then questioned what all the fuss is about;"Just Do It" { Cash only please}. Given that the environmental side effects from gambling are none; my money is on Stanley. Money only comes down to proper math and arithmetic.
