In Hamilton we are told by many that our city is dirty and has the image of being tough, dirty ,and mob run,but I was born in this city and I kind of like it.I truly believe Hamilton, my birth place is thinking small.

I have so many times smelt fumes and waste from the steel companies that for sure are toxic, and I felt sick,I know I am not the only one,and because I am not the only one! I say that we "sell the steel companies to the Chinese"I was told today by the Chinese community that Fred had basically brushed them off today {Aug 30th 2010} at a meeting with China representatives.I believe that the future of our city is not going to be based solely on Foot ball, but in the elimination and the sale of all the steel plants to the Chinese.Big deals are when you make massive invest to a whole city. and Canadian society.I am under the impression that the Chinese would like a mayor that supports the sale in principal of the steel plants to the Chinese. The shareholders of the stock can decide whether or not, they would like to tender there shares to the Chinese, but as mayor I would be more than happy to help them achieve their goal, of developing not only one small patch, but the whole North end of the water front. Today I had conversations with the representatives from China:s Government, and given that I am being told that the meeting came across has a brush off by the mayor,I question the current mayors thinking.I support the billions of dollars that will be spent in infrastructure,I support the multi millions that will be made by our city in taxes, and I support the environment.

I support "real change"not just cosmetic and most of all I support massive employment in Hamilton, and will achieve this by supporting the sale of our steel plants to the Chinese.

I would rather we turn the North end into a  mega project ,then toxic producing, money losing eye sore

When I go through the neighbourhoods that an MP for Centre Hamilton is supposed to represent at a federal level it is very diverse in income and race, but regardless of race or income, they all suffer the side effects of toxic dust being released into the air.

A while back at a public forum held by Dofasco, it was stated by the representatives that the dust that is being released into the air onto the unknowing to be breathed in. I was witness to there presentations regarding coffining steel. It was really very outrages and really very alarming. They could not control the dust during the process and what the residents of Hamilton have been breathing in 300 times more toxic during this process.

I could not believe what I was hearing! I was really shocked. There was quite a presence of people including the environment Minister.
I stated that
" Why don't you give an evacuation notice to the residents? So they can decide if they want to stay in such close proximity to this toxic waste" Basically I went on to tell them that Dofasco should pay the bill to anyone that is paying for out of area expenses

It is bad. So it is in my opinion that we actively engage the possibility of selling the steel Plants to the Chinese for the purpose of development on a massive scale. They need to expropriate the steel plant lands for the sake of a better planet.

I would entertain the motive of reaching out to the Chinese government in support of the monies needed to first remediate those properties.I think it is close to a thousand acres. The cost is Billions and Billions of dollars, and that might be the low ball?

When I take into account the toxicity level of dust in this day and age being released, it only makes sense to shutter them if one is thinking with altruism towards those that are affected by way of high cancer rates. Closing the plants immediately would improve the lower city real estate price overnight, "They would skyrocket"! Any future development would now have the positive of cleaner air thus higher real estate prices and more possibility for plausible real development that helps transform the whole Niagra region.

I said years ago when I was running for mayor that it was possible to create 30,000 jobs on a long term project like this.

Phil, I want to show the harbour and every square inch of land owned right now by the steel plants to the Chinese . Then I want to see if we can build new fantastic concepts to creating livable space.

What about the jobs and pensions? "Good question Phil". Pay them out, make them happy but stop producing steel and let's see some world-class development like you and I see while in Shanghai. I really think it is achievable.

It creates more jobs while definitely producing cleaner better air than the LRT project could ever dream. The betterment to mankind is greater than LRT in so many ways. And it brings in taxes. Taxes that I believe the steel companies are in arrears over at the moment.

I find myself aligning with the basic understanding that is held by Bill Gates? That government and politicians are in fact inept and incapable of dealing with the issues of climate change based on the fact that it is not a peronally held inner position within themselves or a concern that is held with inner altruism .And because inner altruism on the subject is not being held within politicians it is up to those like Bill Gates and others to set the standards regarding climate change and or others to talk about the subject .It is next to impossible to solve the problem while the word embraces materialism .And because of this the world is in need of a singular world government that limits individual consumption .

Personally, I think the ideology of socialism for the sake of the environmentally fragile planet should be experimented on the North American society first as they lack inner control on the issue of materialism. While others in poorer countries starve.

I am ok in principle with what the world elite are trying to achieve in regards too the planets woes with or without politicians who seem incapable of making hard choices. As I think regardless the rich are making the decision for them . « less

Reply to @Edward H.C Graydon: But I also believe?

On many ideological issues held by Bill Gates and climate change many are in fact aligned to my own frame of thinking but I think the alignment between Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos makes this probomatic to some degree as most of the worlds side effects based on consumption and materialism stem from his friends business Amazon the same identity that contributes to the global plastics and waste from materialism found in the worlds oceans. So I guess the question is ? Does Bill Gates recognize the issue his friends conglomerate has on the planet as a whole. And is his friendship with Jeff Bezos the meaning of hypocrisy on the subject as I really don't know ,but I see some reason for concern. « less

In 2008 I was staying in the penthouse floor of one of the tallest towers in Shanghai listening to tjhe local CCP News station and there was a documentory type program that was talking about how Chinese criminals where going to flood the market with this drug in order to wipe out North America by creating a continent of drug addicts . It was a very disturbing program and I will always remember how they stated it could not be controled. I do think many of these drugs are coming from China, although I rarely see drug addicts in China and believe the intentianal target or destination point was indended for Canada .China seems to play a double standard to some degree but because they have taken the stance of applying the death penalty drug use in China is not that common. I would not have a problem with the death penalty in Canada. And by the way China did Canada a favour by giving the Canadian Meth dealer the death sentence .

Was it misinformation that was perpetuated onto myself while in China? Was the Documentary wrong in retrospect ? I will clarify that when China has a no drug use policy and its citizens are also firmly on board with this ideology while having the death penalty for drug use it is counter productive on behalf of the Trudeau Government to lift the bans on drug use across the board or at least promote the idea publicly in front of the world while the Chinese watch on . Drug use does not promote harmony in society or help benefit it in any way its use is on average detrimental and the Chinese recognize this while remember the Opium Wars. Given the destruction drug dealers have on countries regardless of where I support harsher penalties hence my stance back in 2019.

If only CBC could extend its ability to allow those that participate on this site to edit there input like you can on Gates Notes ! It would really help in further discussion and communication and serve as an overall benefit .

CONTENT DEACTIVATED – WHY? AI ,what do you think about this and does this lend credence to my proposed question to yourself as a form of artificial intelligence regarding internet protocol and publicly stated commentary and does this lend credence to the fact that Chinese documentary programs within China appear quite accurate as it now appears the information that I was exposed to in 2008 was in fact accurate.
China produces accurate news at times outstanding and based on this I am pleased to have related publicly my opinions regarding where much of the Fentanyl and Meth importation was coming from.
